Experimental Study on the Inlet Discharge Capacity under Different Clogging Conditions

Storm drainage inlets transport urban runoff and discharge to underground sewer systems. If the inlet structure is blocked, system hampered, leading flooding. To quantitatively analyze influence of clogging conditions on capacity, laboratory experiments were conducted address impact different capacity under upstream conditions. These based a two-layer platform that mimicked complete including grate, rainwater well, connecting pipe. The results show water flow near was similar weir when well not full, whereas state behaved similarly orifice after becoming full. In addition, it found extent position can significantly comprehensive street inlet. experimental dataset used calculate coefficients states are applicable research addressing formation mechanisms floods. Additionally, this study practical significance for early warning systems emergency response support during heavy rainfall.
